This college is positioned to become a national leader in environmental research, education, and community engagement, focusing on wildlife conservation, sustainable resource management, urban planning, and climate change solutions. According to Crowley, the Academy of Environmental Design will serve as the college's core, housing its faculty. UGA professors from any discipline with relevant environmental expertise can join the academy. Beyond traditional science fields like botany, ecology, and marine science, the academy welcomes experts from landscape architecture, business, law, journalism, and other non-scientific domains, including private sector professionals. Academy members will maintain their primary departmental affiliations while collaborating to develop interdisciplinary environmental courses, degrees, and certification programs that address gaps in current offerings. Our goal is to advance understanding of both constructed and natural environments through research, education, and outreach, fostering sustainable approaches to resource management, conservation, and development.
