The innovative M.F.A. program in Film, Television, and Digital Media equips graduate students with hands-on training in modern production techniques, including producing, screenwriting, directing, and management, along with emerging digital media disciplines.

This cutting-edge M.F.A. program cultivates the next wave of media professionals by providing comprehensive training in current production methods, covering key areas like producing, writing, directing, and management, plus growing digital media sectors.

Participants will create content for diverse platforms while securing creative and leadership roles in the evolving film, television, and digital media industries. The initial year in Athens involves 32 credit hours focusing on core storytelling techniques, filmmaking basics, and cinematic history and analysis. The second year's 30-credit curriculum takes place at Trilith near Trilith Atlanta Studios, where students reside while learning from UGA instructors. Production-focused students complete capstone projects and professional internships at Trilith and other Atlanta-area sites during this residency, while writing students may participate in observerships at Trilith or other Northeast Georgia production facilities.

Addressing demands from Georgia's thriving entertainment sector, this new MFA Film initiative launches in fall 2020, training aspiring directors, producers, and cinematographers through a two-year curriculum beginning in Athens and concluding at the Georgia Film Academy.
