Our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Science Education program is designed for individuals holding a bachelor's degree in science who want to obtain their initial teaching certification for secondary science subjects (including biology, chemistry, earth/space science, or physics for grades 6-12) at the advanced T-5 level.
At UGA, our science education program focuses on research-based curriculum development and instructional methods that adhere to the latest national standards set by the National Science Teachers Association and the Next Generation Science Standards.
For those seeking initial certification without pursuing a master's degree, we recommend applying to our non-degree certification program.
