Our department provides graduate programs specializing in Interpersonal & Health Communication and Rhetorical Studies. Through our Double Dawg, MA, and PhD programs, students explore communication in personal, public, and political contexts, preparing for both professional and academic pathways.
The Department of Communication Studies (previously known as Speech Communication) grants MA and PhD degrees, with concentrations available in either Interpersonal & Health Communication or Rhetorical Studies. Graduate education aims to equip students with research methodologies for advancing communication knowledge, develop expertise in sharing this knowledge with diverse audiences, and promote a spirit of intellectual curiosity and public service. The department emphasizes personalized learning, supporting each graduate student's unique interests and abilities through rigorous academic training.
