The University of Georgia's Graduate Certificate in Obesity and Weight Management curriculum aims to position UGA as a national leader in obesity education for healthcare professionals by achieving these learning outcomes: 1. Enhance comprehension of obesity's multidisciplinary aspects 2. Highlight the necessity of cross-disciplinary strategies to combat obesity 3. Cultivate communication abilities for discussing research-backed obesity prevention methods across healthcare fields 4. Build expertise to advocate effectively for obesity solutions 5. Acquire clinical and research skills to tackle obesity challenges. These objectives will train healthcare providers to approach obesity through evidence-based, multifaceted lenses incorporating nutrition, exercise, behavioral therapy, environmental factors, and policy considerations. The program requires completion of five core courses (15 credits) plus one survey course (1 credit), totaling 16 graduate credit hours. Applicants must hold an accredited bachelor's degree and be pursuing graduate studies to qualify for admission to this certificate program.
