Resilience refers to the ability of systems, communities, and individuals to anticipate, adapt to, and recover from disruptions while prospering in evolving conditions. The Resilient Infrastructure Systems program develops groundbreaking approaches to help organizations and governments manage environmental shifts, extreme weather, and climate challenges by redesigning and upgrading infrastructure to enhance economic, ecological, and community durability. This program enables scholars to pursue comprehensive research on both constructed and natural infrastructure systems involving transportation, environmental resources, energy, and food production, along with their interdependencies. Participants can customize their academic journey by selecting from UGA's wide-ranging curriculum spanning engineering specialties, geosciences, urban planning, ecological studies, health sciences, legal frameworks, and social science disciplines.
