The Chemistry Department's primary mission is to prepare aspiring chemists for careers in industry, government, or academia through comprehensive education and training. Graduate programs focus on research-intensive curricula culminating in Ph.D. or M.S. degrees. Typically, students aim directly for their Ph.D. rather than stopping at the M.S. level, with specialization options including analytical, inorganic (including bioinorganic), organic, or physical chemistry. Students also have opportunities to engage in cross-disciplinary research projects, irrespective of their primary course concentration.

Qualification Requirements

To be admitted to graduate study in chemistry at the University of Georgia, a student must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field and should have a distinguished undergraduate record. Applications are accepted for Fall semester enrollment.
