The Science Education program at the University of Georgia equips students to become middle and high school science teachers. This curriculum trains future educators to instruct biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics for grades 7-12. Participants complete coursework in science curriculum, learning theory, instructional strategies, technology integration, educational philosophy, leadership, and specialized content from one of four scientific disciplines: 1) Biology, 2) Chemistry, 3) Physics, or 4) Earth Science. The program includes a hands-on teaching internship. Graduates can apply for a renewable T-4 teaching certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC), qualifying them to teach their specialization at the secondary level, with reciprocity available in most other U.S. states.
