Our department aims to equip students for careers in Interior Design. We foster the cultivation of individual artistic expression within each student's chosen materials and specialties. Those pursuing a B.F.A. should gain deep comprehension of their selected materials' inherent qualities. Typically, students must showcase a graduation exhibition displaying their progress in creating a sophisticated, unified portfolio. Aspiring professionals should possess environmental awareness for both indoor and outdoor spaces, along with commitment to designing interiors that blend functionality with beauty. Essential qualities include confidence, discipline, creativity, deadline management under pressure, and strong design sensibilities. Proficiency in visual communication is crucial—through sketching, technical drafting, CAD, physical/digital modeling, and other visual methods. Effective verbal and visual presentation skills are required, along with expertise in both historical and modern architecture and interior design concepts.
