The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides a distinct M.S. degree program alongside our involvement in the Ph.D. program overseen by the College of Medicine.
This M.S. program equips students with essential skills for careers in both private and governmental research fields. Additionally, it prepares graduates for admission into rigorous Ph.D. or professional degree programs (such as MD, DVM, or DDS).
Admission to the M.S. Program occurs exclusively during fall semesters. Students typically finish their Master's degree within six semesters, though dedicated individuals may complete requirements sooner.

Qualification Requirements
A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.
The minimum requirements for graduate admission at the University of Florida include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for all upper division (Junior/Senior) courses. Although the university minimum GPA for admission is 3.0, the average GPA of entering classes of our program is approximately 3.5.
