The Master of Science in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology provides both thesis and non-thesis pathways for students, along with a mandatory research component.
At the University of Florida, graduate studies in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology (APK) primarily emphasize research across key departmental focus areas: exercise physiology, injury prevention in athletics, biomechanics, motor control and learning, and sport/exercise psychology.
This research is exemplified by the projects detailed in the Center for Exercise Science laboratory descriptions. These investigations span the entire range of human capabilities—studying individuals from youth to elderly, varying fitness levels, different health statuses, diverse physical abilities, and ranging from casual participants to elite athletes. Through this work, APK has forged significant research collaborations with departments in the Colleges of Medicine, Health Related Professions, and Engineering, as well as with Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychology, Zoology, the Veterans Administration Center, and the Center for Gerontological Studies. This interdisciplinary approach reflects the field's comprehensive nature
