Students enrolled in a master's program can opt for the Master of Science (M.S.) degree, while only those with ABET-accredited engineering bachelor's degrees qualify for the Master of Engineering (M.E.) option. All other academic requirements stay identical.
To earn a Master's degree, students must complete 30 credit hours. For the thesis track, this consists of at least 24 graded course credits and up to 6 thesis research credits (EAS/EML 6971). Within this total, a minimum of 18 course credits (excluding pass/fail courses) must be in the student's primary discipline. The remaining 12 credits may come from graduate-level technical courses (5000-level or higher) in other fields. Non-thesis candidates must complete 30 graded credits (excluding pass/fail courses), with at least 18 in their major. Both thesis and non-thesis students may apply up to 6 credits of 3000 or 4000-level STEM courses from other departments toward their degree requirements.

Qualification Requirements
Students must have a baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering or in Aerospace Engineering, or baccalaureate degree in a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program; minimum undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0/4.0.
For applicants from countries (including Puerto Rico) where English is not the official language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 550 paper, or 80 Internet; International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 77, or documented successful completion of the University of Florida English Language Institute program.
