The Mental Health Counseling program combines a Master's (M.Ed.) and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree, covering all core counseling subjects as defined by CACREP standards for mental health programs. Coursework encompasses trauma response, community counseling, working with diverse groups, addiction treatment, and various mental health specialties.

This 72-credit entry-level program trains future Mental Health Counselors for roles in community organizations, government agencies, private practices, and corporate EAP programs. Alumni deliver counseling services addressing childhood development, family dynamics, career guidance, aging concerns, addiction recovery, and overall wellbeing.

The M.Ed./Ed.S. and MAE/Ed.S. tracks develop essential skills for Registered Intern certification, leading to (a) Florida licensure as Mental Health Counselors after supervised practice and (b) eligibility for NBCC's clinical membership. Some graduates may pursue doctoral studies.

Program completers qualify to take the NBCC's National Counselor Examination (NCE) for certification and may join professional organizations like the American Counseling Association (ACA) and American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
