The Arts, Literature, and Culture specialization leverages extensive interdisciplinary knowledge, preparing students for professional paths in academic, artistic, and cultural sectors including scholarly research, creative writing, museum curation, arts management, performing arts, and similar areas.

The MALAS program's Arts, Literature, and Culture concentration utilizes campus-wide academic strengths, equipping students for careers in cultural fields spanning education, literary arts, museum work, arts leadership, performance, and associated professions.
The Center for Latin American Studies provides these graduate options: An interdisciplinary MA in Latin American Studies, A graduate certificate in Latin American studies, plus specialized certificates in Tropical Conservation and Development. The Latin American studies graduate curriculum incorporates over 250 region-focused courses across 35+ academic departments within these colleges.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required. For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
Background and interest in Latin America demonstrated through coursework, study abroad, work or volunteer experience, or other.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
3.0 GPA in all upper-division undergraduate coursework.
Minimal proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole.
For international applicants and applicants from Puerto Rico: satisfactory scores on the IELTS (6), MELAB (77) or TOEFL (550/213/80).
