The School Counseling M.Ed./Ed.S. and M.AE./Ed.S. program prepares students with foundational skills needed for Florida Department of Education School Counseling Certification. This 72-credit curriculum delivers specialized training for roles as school counselors across elementary, middle, and high school settings in both public and private institutions. As a state-approved program with CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accreditation, students must successfully complete all sections of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE), including General Knowledge (covering mathematics, English, reading, and writing), Professional Education, and the Guidance and Counseling K-12 Subject Area test before graduating. For certification inquiries or additional requirements, students can contact the College of Education Office of Student Services.
