The School of Forest Resources & Conservation equips students for careers in natural resource stewardship. We focus on human involvement in managing both land and water ecosystems to sustain their diverse benefits. Our faculty bring expertise across ecology, economics/policy, and recreation/education, united by a shared focus on environmental resources rather than conventional academic boundaries. The School encompasses three key areas: Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Forest Resources and Conservation, and Geomatics. The Forest Resources and Conservation program trains students to address ecological, economic, and social dimensions of natural resources, including spatial data management from field surveys to remote sensing. Faculty specialties span fire ecology, land rights, tree genetics, recreation planning, environmental education, GIS technology, forest management, resource economics, and conservation policy.
