We aim to equip students with the tools to investigate and reimagine how curriculum, instruction, and teacher training intersect with social and political systems in our diverse global landscape. Through interdisciplinary research methods and practical applications, our faculty provide frameworks for analyzing contemporary educational challenges. Graduates will gain the skills to confront and transform systemic inequities through revolutionary educational approaches.
The Teachers, Schools, and Society program fosters critical analysis of how educational systems interact with broader social forces. This includes studying educator and student perspectives, curriculum design, teaching methods, and professional development within schools. Simultaneously, we explore how historical, social, philosophical, and cultural factors influence education systems and how education shapes society. This comprehensive approach enables us to develop detailed yet complete understandings that strengthen our dedication to creating dynamic, fair school systems that support democratic values.
