The criminology and law graduate program focuses on two key specializations: justice and crime studies, along with societal legal systems. These research-oriented degree programs equip students to undertake innovative investigations into pressing concerns, policy matters, and contemporary challenges. The Ph.D. curriculum mandates at least 90 semester credits post-bachelor's degree. Applicants holding a criminology or related master's degree from an accredited U.S. institution within the past seven years may petition to transfer up to 30 credits. Graduates from this department's master's program can transfer 36 credits. Ph.D. candidates must complete a minimum of 66 coursework hours (not counting research credits), incorporating any transferred master's credits. Students take comprehensive exams upon finishing their required coursework.
