The biology programs integrate expertise and facilities from both the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, equipping undergraduate students for professional roles in biological fields, advanced education in graduate or professional programs, responsible community engagement, and continuous personal development. This adaptable yet thorough curriculum highlights life's varied structures, functions, and ecosystems. Participants fulfill core and optional coursework that fosters analytical skills by exploring fundamental concepts and unifying principles of living organisms. Unlike specialized degrees in botany or zoology, the biology major provides a more expansive biological perspective. Tailored for those pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, or similar professional fields, the Preprofessional Biology concentration specifically supports students aiming for these advanced programs. Those following this path should consult with the biology advisor or visit the Academic Advising Center located in 100 Farrior Hall for detailed guidance.
