Plant scientists play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our present and future by working with food crops, textiles, energy sources, ornamental plants, medicines, urban greenery, soil quality, plant diseases, and natural ecosystems. Students in Plant Science programs explore subjects like biology, plant structure and function, chemistry, insect studies, physics, soil and water science, plant recognition, disease management, cultivation techniques, and landscape horticulture. This concentration combines soil science fundamentals with practical applications in farming and gardening. The curriculum emphasizes core concepts concerning soil vitality, yield potential, and nutrient management to support eco-friendly plant cultivation and farming methods. A key goal of the program is equipping students for dual certification as Associate Professional Soil Scientists and Certified Crop Advisors, enhancing their career prospects in relevant industries.

Qualification Requirements

At least three full years of your most recent secondary school transcript(s), including courses in progress (grades 9, 10 and 11 + senior schedule) in both the native language of instruction and a word for word certified English translation (if applicable).
All applicants must submit test scores from the SAT, ACT and/or CLT. UF will superscore (take the highest scores for each subsection) to create the highest possible total score. UF does not require or encourage applications to complete the essay portion of the ACT.
