The University of Florida School of Music commits to nurturing students' musical talents to their fullest. Our string faculty provides personalized attention to support each student's artistic development and personal growth. We actively promote performing all studied musical works.
String majors and minors can expect: Private weekly one-hour lessons with distinguished faculty artists on their primary instrument—never with teaching assistants. Weekly studio sessions and monthly String Area Recitals that offer supportive performance platforms. School-wide weekly gatherings that foster community, collaboration, and performance experience. Advanced chamber music training focusing on classical masterworks. Frequent masterclasses featuring internationally acclaimed guest artists (past visitors include members of the Beaux Arts Trio, Shanghai Quartet, Orion Quartet, Kronos Quartet, and Leipzig Quartet, among others).
