The African American studies program focuses on teaching students key theories and methods related to African American scholarship. Learners will analyze the similarities and differences between the experiences of African descendants in the United States and those across the global African Diaspora. Community engagement initiatives further enhance their educational journey. This multidisciplinary major equips students with essential competencies in writing, research, and verbal communication. Coursework spans diverse fields including anthropology, media studies, education, literature, historical studies, language science, government, behavioral science, theological studies, and social sciences. The curriculum also explores connections between the US and Canada, the Caribbean, and Africa, while supporting students in securing academic internships and pursuing international study opportunities.
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
