The Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) integrates social justice principles and community needs into its teaching and research approach. With intimate class sizes, you'll forge strong academic partnerships with faculty mentors. Personalized career guidance and support services will help you achieve your professional aspirations, while diverse groups and initiatives—like the Shades of Brown Alliance for people of color and allies, or the Catalyst Series for Social Justice—offer meaningful ways to engage beyond academics.
Our Denver Campus MSW Program is designed for students holding bachelor's degrees in non-social work fields. (Those with a BSW should consider our Advanced-Standing Denver Campus MSW Program.) Full-time students attend weekday classes, while part-time options include evening courses. Field placements typically require weekday availability, though current human services employment may fulfill internship requirements.
Full-time students can complete their degree in less than two years. While most coursework occurs on weekdays with limited Saturday or online alternatives, internships generally follow standard business hours. You may begin your studies in either winter or fall quarter—a winter start offers lighter course loads but includes summer sessions, while fall enrollment provides heavier terms with summer breaks.
The Denver Campus MSW Program requires 81 credit hours. The initial phase establishes foundational knowledge through generalist coursework, preparing you to work across various practice levels. Later, you'll tailor your Advanced Social Work Practice specialization to align with your professional objectives, complemented by two immersive field internships.
