The one-year performance certificate program offers intensive training in a chosen performance discipline. This comprehensive curriculum blends individualized coaching, dynamic academic coursework, and hands-on performance opportunities to establish a solid foundation in instrumental mastery. Students collaborate with Lamont School of Music's distinguished faculty, participating in ensemble performances while developing professional skills for music careers.
Lamont's cello program fosters a supportive, creative atmosphere where students can expand their artistic horizons.
Cello students at Lamont receive instruction from Professor Matthew Zalkind and gain insights from Professor Heather Hadley's teaching methods. Zalkind, an award-winning musician who triumphed at prestigious events like Moscow's International Tchaikovsky Competition, brings extensive experience as both a former Harlem String Quartet member and international soloist. His diverse background enables him to guide students toward technical excellence while cultivating their artistic expression.
