The University of Denver's chemistry PhD program prepares students for careers in scientific research through advanced training. This program develops researchers who can independently conduct high-caliber investigations, combining challenging coursework with a publishable dissertation. Graduates pursue opportunities in academia, industry, or interdisciplinary fields blending science with policy, business, and legal professions when combined with additional training.
Chemistry PhD candidates work closely with faculty advisors who guide their research progress. Our intentionally small graduate program fosters strong student-faculty relationships and peer collaboration, while allowing customized study plans aligned with individual career goals.
Research focuses on molecular-level analysis of membrane protein functions. A central aspect involves developing innovative techniques and algorithms to detect temporary protein interactions from imaging data, particularly studying SNARE and P-glycoprotein systems. This work contributes to advancing cardiovascular disease treatment approaches.
