This competitive program offers conservatory-caliber training within a dynamic liberal arts environment. Students receive specialized music instruction (classical or jazz), delve into music history and theory, while mastering the technical and creative aspects of producing high-quality recordings.

Renowned for its versatility, the saxophone holds a unique place in Western music. Lamont students explore this instrument's rich stylistic traditions, graduating with professional-level performance skills, repertoire knowledge, and historical context.

Under the guidance of Arthur Bouton – a sought-after saxophonist and woodwind specialist – Lamont's saxophone program thrives. Bouton, an accomplished performer on all saxophone types, flutes, clarinets, bassoon, and the Akai EWI, founded the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra. He frequently performs with major Colorado ensembles including the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Ballet, and Opera Colorado.
