The Bachelor of Music in Recording and Production program prepares students to become skilled engineers and producers across diverse musical styles including jazz, classical, pop, rock, and more. This competitive program delivers conservatory-quality training within a dynamic liberal arts university setting. Participants receive specialized music instruction (classical or jazz), explore music history, master music theory, and gain hands-on experience in creating exceptional audio recordings.
The oboe department takes pride in providing comprehensive support and abundant performance chances through various ensembles like orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber groups, and the Modern Music ensemble. Quarterly, students benefit from personalized guidance in both instrument-focused studio sessions and combined woodwind performance classes. Lamont's oboe students learn from acclaimed musicians Ian Wisekal and Sarah Mellander Bierhaus. Professor Wisekal serves as Principal Oboist for both the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and Crested Butte Music Festival, with prior experience as Associate Principal Oboist for the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Professor Bierhaus holds the Principal Oboe position with Opera Colorado and the Boulder Philharmonic, while also serving as Associate Principal for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
