Guitar students at Lamont learn from acclaimed performers Jonathan Leathwood and Laura Husbands. Professor Leathwood stands out as one of the rare guitarists proficient on both six-string and ten-string instruments, blending contemporary and classical pieces in his groundbreaking performances. He holds international certification in the Alexander Technique and serves as editor of Soundboard Scholar, the sole English-language peer-reviewed journal dedicated to guitar research. Professor Husbands has earned first-place honors in 11 international contests and has rapidly gained recognition as both performer and educator.
