The Bachelor of Music in Performance offers specialized training in Western classical music performance. Students gain intensive practical experience in their chosen discipline under the guidance of accomplished artist-educators committed to shaping successful musical careers. This competitive program combines conservatory-quality instruction with the rich academic environment of a liberal arts university.
Organ students work with Joseph Galema, a Lamont faculty member since 2008 who also holds the position of principal organist at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, among the city's most prominent and musically engaged congregations. At Lamont, he provides individual instruction for organ majors along with courses covering organ literature, improvisation, and collaborative performance.
Lamont boasts a distinctive 56-rank, 3,000-pipe Schuke Orgelbau Berlin organ, custom-built in Germany. This magnificent instrument now serves as the focal point of Hamilton Recital Hall, the venue specifically designed to showcase its exceptional qualities.
