Lamont's bassoon students receive instruction from Martin Kuuskmann, an internationally celebrated bassoonist and Grammy-nominated artist. Professor Kuuskmann stands among the most in-demand performers in classical music today, having appeared as a soloist and recording artist with prestigious ensembles like the New York and London Philharmonics, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The bassoon program fully utilizes Lamont's wide-ranging performance options, with students performing in symphony orchestras, opera productions, and various chamber, world music, and contemporary ensembles.

To be competitive for admission students should submit one of the following scores
TOEFL Test of English as a Foreign Language A TOEFL score of 80 or higher with no sub-score below 18 The DU TOEFL code is 4842.
