Lamont's guitar studio is dedicated to nurturing versatile musicians through a challenging yet supportive approach. Students at Lamont learn from acclaimed performers Jonathan Leathwood and Laura Husbands. Professor Leathwood stands out as one of the rare guitarists who performs on both six-string and ten-string instruments, blending contemporary and classical pieces in his creative repertoire. He holds international certification in the Alexander Technique and serves as editor for Soundboard Scholar, the sole English-language, peer-reviewed journal focused on guitar research. Professor Husbands has earned first-place awards in 11 global competitions, rapidly establishing herself as a prominent performer and educator. She directs the Denver Guitar Festival and Competition, an annual event that attracts world-renowned artists to Lamont.
