Information Systems is a dynamic field of study that connects business with computer science.
Computer networks amplify human intelligence by enabling sophisticated yet user-friendly communication and data management. For optimal performance, these systems must support and improve our business, government, and service institutions, demanding a thorough grasp of both human interaction dynamics and the technical capabilities of computing systems.
The Department of Computer and Information Sciences provides a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (INSY-BS), blending business and IT disciplines. This program responds to growing interest in developing software solutions for commercial and consumer applications. Students complete required major coursework along with 1) a business curriculum (business core) and 2) specialized information systems classes (information systems core).
The business foundation focuses on management and marketing principles. Career preparation in administrative and financial fields comes through coursework in accounting, finance, operations management, organizational behavior, and marketing.
