Pursuing environmental science at UD provides insights into how natural systems function and humanity's influence on them. For those drawn to nature, this major offers pathways to address ecological challenges including ecosystem preservation, green infrastructure, aquatic health, species diversity, global warming, clean energy alternatives, and other pressing concerns. The program combines interdisciplinary studies of air, water, land, and living systems, allowing students to focus their expertise through specialized concentrations. U.S. labor statistics project environmental science careers will expand 8% quicker than most occupations from 2019 through 2029.
Program Learning Outcomes Graduates will demonstrate: 1. Comprehensive scientific knowledge about environmental systems' structure, operations, and assessment, plus human-planet interactions. 2. Ability to propose science-based remedies for ecological challenges through individual/team projects. 3. Proficiency with standard analytical methods and quantitative approaches for investigating environmental concerns. 4. Competence in describing Earth's water cycles, movement patterns, availability, and conditions through presentations and writing. 5. Skill in combining multidisciplinary knowledge during capstone projects and hands-on learning experiences, expressed through oral and written work.
