The Department of Animal and Food Sciences provides an accelerated 41-credit Bachelor of Science to Master of Science in Animal Science (BS/MS) program, enabling students to earn both degrees within five years of full-time enrollment. Applicants must have junior standing with a minimum of 60 completed credits to qualify for this combined degree path. The MS component follows a non-thesis track, with concentration options in Veterinary Biosciences, Biotechnology and One Health (VBBOH) or Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership (BELC).
Graduates with an Animal Science degree gain qualifications for careers addressing worldwide needs in food production, textile industries, and the care of wildlife in zoological facilities. These professionals help advance knowledge about the interconnected systems involving domesticated animals, wildlife, human populations, and ecosystems. The program features foundational courses covering animal biology (including anatomy, nutrition, physiology) alongside specialized upper-level studies across various animal science fields.
