The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Applied Music prepares students for professional careers as performing musicians or college-level music educators. This specialized program focuses on mastering a principal instrument while fostering academic excellence and professional standards in music. Admission requires an audition on one of the approved instruments (woodwind, brass, strings, percussion, piano, classical guitar, harp or voice).
The curriculum features intensive training in music theory, ear training, music history, piano proficiency, and private lessons, supplemented by advanced electives like counterpoint, keyboard harmony, jazz theory, and specialized seminars. Students also study musical repertoire through advanced literature courses and performance ensembles. Numerous performance avenues exist, including symphony orchestras, opera productions, chamber groups, competitions, summer programs, and solo recitals.
