Biomedical engineering (BME) utilizes quantitative engineering methods and design principles to address biological and medical challenges. BME advances fundamental understanding of disease processes to enhance human health while creating innovative technologies and treatments to improve quality of life. Applications include designing rehabilitation devices for stroke patients, creating targeted drug delivery systems for cancer treatment, modeling HIV disease progression, engineering cardiovascular tissues, investigating osteoarthritis development, among other areas.
Our undergraduate program educates students to connect engineering, medicine, and biomedical research. We offer a design-oriented curriculum that combines comprehensive training in chemical, mechanical, materials science, and electrical engineering fundamentals with opportunities for specialization aligned with students' career objectives and interests. We equip students for professional roles in biomedical industries and advanced education pathways, including graduate programs, medical school, and other healthcare-related fields.
