A brain that knows multiple languages is more nimble and excels at resolving issues and disagreements. Those who learn languages show enhanced mental abilities that last a lifetime.
More than 50% of the global population can speak two or more languages, compared to just 20% of Americans who know a language besides English. Understanding different languages and cultures provides our graduates with an edge in any profession, and is particularly prized in global commerce and professional circles. Our alumni pursue diverse careers in education, media and entertainment, public service, tourism, banking, or global trade. Some join international or nonprofit groups like the International Red Cross or WHO, while others pursue higher education for careers in global law, foreign relations, or academia.
