The Biden School provides an accelerated 4+1 program combining a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a Master's in Urban Affairs and Public Policy, enabling students to earn both degrees efficiently. Students must fulfill all requirements for both programs, with up to 12 graduate credits counting toward both degrees.
Art History equips students with analytical perspectives on the evolution of artistic and cultural expression globally. We enhance visual literacy, refine writing skills, and inspire creativity through engagement with influential artworks, artifacts, and architectural wonders that have shaped societies. The University of Delaware's museums, including the UD Library, Museums and Press, frequently serve as hands-on learning spaces for developing curatorial and critical analysis skills. Our curriculum covers diverse artistic traditions including American (encompassing Native American, African American, and Latin American), European, African, Asian, and Islamic art, material culture, and architecture. Students can pursue interdisciplinary options through double majors or joint programs with fields like Art Conservation, Anthropology, English, History, and various Languages, Literatures & Cultures. By exploring humanity's creative legacy, we prepare students to engage as global citizens.
