Africana Studies is an interdisciplinary program rooted primarily in social sciences and humanities. The Bachelor of Arts degree equips students to critically examine the social, political, intellectual, and artistic aspects of African American and African Diasporic experiences. Through comparative analysis of various media including articles, books, films, artworks, and archival documents, students learn to articulate this knowledge both verbally and in writing. They also develop practical skills for community-oriented projects serving Black populations locally. These competencies can be valuable assets across diverse professional fields students may pursue.
