Geologists examine the composition, formations, and mechanisms of our planet, tracing their evolution across Earth's 4.6-billion-year timeline. Their work tackles critical societal challenges, including locating essential resources like energy, water, and minerals, combating environmental contamination, and mitigating risks from natural disasters including volcanic eruptions, seismic activity, and slope failures.
Students acquire practical skills through the Geology Field Camp program, held in both New Zealand and Colorado. Advanced courses incorporate fieldwork across the United States, while faculty collaborate with students on international research projects spanning diverse locations such as Nepal, China, Ethiopia, Europe, and South America.
