The Genetics and Genomics Program brings together faculty from diverse disciplines including genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics, collaborating with the recently founded Institute for Systems Genomics. Graduate students in Molecular and Cell Biology can earn either a Master's or PhD with this specialization. Those aiming for biotechnology or pharmaceutical careers may also consider the Applied Genomics MS degree through the Professional Science Master's (PSM) program (For details, email psmuconn.edu).
Research specialties span chromosome organization, comparative genomics, genome evolution, developmental genetics, molecular adaptation, transcriptional regulation, noncoding RNA functions, human genomics, genome-related animal models, centromere studies, and epigenetic mechanisms.

• Any activities you have engaged in that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion in science
Note – GRE Scores are no longer required and will not be used in considering your application.
You must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
A cumulative GPA for their most recent degree of 3.0 or higher for the entire degree
Minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test – iBT/ iBT Home Edition), 550 (Old Paper-based test – PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (''New'' Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test. (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.)
