Engineering physics applies physics principles to address technical challenges in manufacturing and mechanical systems. This interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science program is collaboratively offered by the School of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Physics. Students majoring in Engineering Physics can select concentrations in Electrical, Mechanical, or Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. The program's primary objective is to equip students with a solid grounding in fundamental physics while integrating engineering concepts.
The Engineering Physics curriculum trains students for careers in microelectronics, quantum electronics, photonics, quantum optics, and instrumentation, with applications across microelectronics, computing, communications, aerospace, and energy sectors. Graduates of this program may also pursue roles typically filled by physicists or electrical engineers, including positions in technical management.
