The Design/Tech BFA program equips students for careers in theatre and entertainment, focusing on design, management, technology, and craftsmanship. Graduates often pursue advanced training at institutions nationwide. Students explore diverse disciplines such as Scenery Design, Construction & Rigging, Costume Design and Construction, Lighting Design, Properties Design & Construction, and Sound Design. The curriculum blends classroom learning with hands-on experience in CRT productions. High-achieving undergraduates may assist or lead designs for CRT Studio Works, with exceptional students even designing for CRT Mainstage productions.

Faculty provide informal evaluations during freshman and sophomore years to offer guidance and identify promising candidates. Junior and senior BFA Design/Tech students undergo semester-end portfolio reviews and are supported in applying for U/RTA (University and Regional Theatre Association) Final Competitions in New York City. These competitions open doors to professional regional theatre roles and graduate programs across the country.
