The Arabic and Islamic Civilizations Program provides students with an immersive experience in Arabic language, literature, and culture across regions from Spain to Afghanistan.
Those pursuing a Major or Minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies will develop exceptional linguistic skills and cultural understanding. Our curriculum includes language courses from introductory to advanced levels, alongside diverse offerings covering Arabic poetry, folklore, film, music, Islamic medicine, modern Middle Eastern studies, Arab feminism, media Arabic, Quranic studies, contemporary literature, and regional dialects like Levantine and Egyptian Arabic.
Participants in our program acquire deep knowledge of both classical and modern Arab cultures while achieving fluency in spoken and written Arabic. The curriculum explores critical topics including women's rights, Islamic influence, media landscapes, independent filmmaking, and social activism. Students also examine Arabic's literary heritage and its contributions to Western thought.
We're establishing a collaboration with Oman's Noor Majan Institute, offering study abroad opportunities for language immersion through summer, semester, or year-long programs in Muscat.
An Arabic degree offers significant cultural enrichment and opens doors to rewarding careers in international business, finance, arts, archaeology, journalism, diplomacy, and global affairs.
