The Master of Urban Design (MUD) program at CU Denver offers a post-professional degree tailored for aspiring urban design practitioners or current planning and design professionals looking to enrich their skills with specialized urban design knowledge. This 36-credit program includes nine courses: a studio and three lecture courses each in fall and spring, plus a global travel studio during summer. Students can opt for an intensive one-year full-time immersion or a flexible part-time schedule spread over a longer duration.
Admission to the MUD program requires a prior master's or professional bachelor's degree in architecture, urban planning, or landscape architecture.
The program aspires to be a global leader in educating future urban designers while partnering with professionals and communities to develop spaces that benefit both people and the environment.
Our MUD program is committed to:
Equipping students with the expertise to excel as urban design innovators, practitioners, and community leaders.
Partnering with professionals to elevate the field and integrate it across city-building disciplines.
Working alongside communities to craft sustainable, inclusive, equitable, and inspiring spaces while offering students hands-on, practical learning opportunities.
In order to be admitted to the program, an individual must hold (or will hold by the start of their MUD studies) a professional degree in architecture, urban planning, or landscape architecture (minimum GPA 3.00) from an accredited program.
