The English Studies graduate program offers a comprehensive grounding in core disciplines, encompassing principal literary forms, genre theory, literacy methodologies, English language analysis, and technological influences on reading and writing practices. MA students are encouraged to deepen this base by specializing in pedagogy while broadening their subject mastery through coursework in rhetoric, literary studies, cinema, and practical linguistics. For detailed program information, please consult the graduate advisor. Please note that these academic requirements may undergo periodic updates by the department, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences maintains discretion to approve individual exceptions or alternatives. Consequently, students are advised to frequently meet with their program advisor to verify optimal study plans prior to formalizing them.
