The Master of Arts in Economics program equips students with quantitative and applied economic expertise to advance their career prospects in both private and public sectors, or to prepare for doctoral studies in economics and related disciplines.
For those seeking to merge economic analytical skills with business applications, the Economics Department provides a combined M.A. Economics/M.S. Finance degree. This 42-credit program, developed in partnership with the Graduate School of Business, aims to produce adept research professionals with strong econometric capabilities and specialized knowledge of financial systems. The overlapping curriculum between the two programs allows students to complete their studies more efficiently. Those without prior accounting experience must complete BUSN 6550 before enrolling in other business and finance courses, though this prerequisite doesn't contribute to the 14-course degree requirement.
