This certification program targets professionals currently employed in computer science, networking, or security operations. While a Computer Science background is strongly advised, each applicant's qualifications will be assessed individually during admissions. The curriculum includes advanced graduate courses covering cybersecurity, operating systems, and either computer networks or cloud computing. Designed for Computer Science practitioners, the Cyber Security and Defense certificate equips graduates to detect, assess, and counter technical cybersecurity threats targeting networks and critical digital infrastructure. A BS or equivalent in Computer Science is ideal. Applicants with BS degrees other than computer science will be individually evaluated for adequate knowledge in programming, algorithms, and system design and may be assigned additional courses to take as part of the certificate program to address deficiencies in their background.
