The academic department periodically updates these degree requirements, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences maintains the authority to approve exceptions or substitutions when deemed appropriate for individual circumstances. Consequently, the College highly recommends that students frequently meet with their major advisors, graduate advisors, and CLAS advisors to verify the most suitable academic plans before finalizing them. This accelerated 5-year program integrates the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (BA/BS) in Public Health (PBHL) with the Master of Public Health (MPH). These degrees are conferred by the University of Colorado Denver through the Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (downtown campus) and the Colorado School of Public Health—a collaborative initiative between the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado. Upon completion, students earn both degrees concurrently.
BA/BS-MPH candidates can select from any MPH specialization offered across the three participating institutions. Specializations encompass the five fundamental public health disciplines (Biostatistics, Community and Behavioral Health, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology, and Health Systems, Management and Policy) along with additional focus areas like Maternal and Child Health, Health Communications, Community Health Education, among others.
