Students focusing on the singer/songwriter track take specialized classes in composition and arranging while honing their performance abilities through intimate ensemble work and private lessons in vocals, accompanying instruments, and songcraft. Aspiring singer/songwriters must successfully audition with both their primary instrument and voice during admissions, then demonstrate progressive performance mastery throughout the program. This music curriculum equips graduates for careers in commercial performance, recording, music business, and creative industries, while also providing a foundation for advanced studies at top conservatories. Specifically, the Department of Music & Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) grants a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Music.
